HOW TO...

We have prepared a very detailed Guide for measuring your space for tiles.

See Guide here.

We have prepared a very detailed Marble Fixing Guide for our customers with our recommendations for fixing marble, please share with your tiler and we suggest follow step by step.

See Marble Fixing Guide here.

We have prepared a very detailed Grout and Seal Guide for our customers.

See Grout and Seal Guide here.

A helpful tool has been created to assist you in calculating the amount of grout you will require for your project.

Find the Calulator here

Please only use this calculator for 100mm tile and upwards, not for mosaic tiles. Always speak with your tiler in regards to how much grout they require for mosaic tiles.

Important to remember this.  The person that you employ will be working for you to achieve your aims.  It will always be great to get their professional advice but you will be living with and hopefully loving the finished project.

How to even start, a few pointers.

There is nothing better than a personal recommendation. Even if none of your friends have a tiler to recommend from first-hand experience, we would always suggest joining Facebook groups local to you, specialising in renovation.  These can be great places to get personal recommendation. Once you have identified a tiler, it can be very useful to see their work portfolio and any reviews or testimonials that they can offer. In some cases they will even give you access to customers that they have worked with previously, to chat to.Be cautious if a tiler can start work immediately. Most good tiles are booked up with work.  A few weeks wait is often a good sign.

How many tiles will you actually need? We would always suggest letting your tiler measure and include the correct tolerance that they like to work to. You do not want to be left with loads of unused tiles which you may not be able to return. If you have a few spares left at the end of a job this can actually be a good thing. Store them safely out of the way.  If there is ever a small incident requiring a repair or a change of appliance, you have perfectly matching tiles and do not have to do a massive search to match up.

If your project includes natural stone, Carrara Marble for example, then ensure that your tiler has worked with natural stone – marble before. It’s always good to be sure that your tiler is experienced with the specific tiles that you will be using. If you are using tiles that require sealing, discuss this with your tiler. Agree on the type of sealant that they will use.  Be clear with your tiler that you expect them to leave you with a totally finished job, ready for use and fit for purpose!  We have heard of cases where people are left to clean off the grout residue and finish the sealing process themselves.  Please read our fixing guides for detailed advice.

Discuss layout with your tiler. Particularly with larger tiles there are a few things to consider.  If you have a taps behind a bath or basin, will they sit in the middle of a tile and look balanced/symmetrical? The same with your shower fittings. If you are looking at floor tiles, where will they sit across the doorway for example.  Will a toilet be centred?  These are the kind of small details that will lift a project. There is almost always some compromise but it needs to be your decision where the compromise comes.  There is nothing worse than staring at off centre taps every time you relax in your luxurious bath for the next 10 years!

Finally, once your tiler is booked get your tiles on site and ready to fix before the date the fixing is to start.  Having plenty of stock 6 months before you order is by no means a guarantee at the time of ordering.  Give yourself plenty of leeway.  Having ordered samples, deliberated and finally made your decision, do not be forced to compromise at the last minute.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our prices are very competitive.  We are able to do this because we buy direct from the factories and therefore cut out the middle man.  And also because we do not have the overheads associated with a traditional showroom we work out of a warehouse!

We only sell top quality product in porcelain, ceramic and marble. Our Carrara Marble has all been quarried in Carrara in Italy - it is then shipped to China for cutting, this is common practise and everyone we know that imports Carrara mosaics uses China for the production process, in fact we don't know anyone using Italian labour to cut and mesh their mosaics as it would be far too expensive!

We also have to buy our mosaics in container quantities (13-14000sheets) to be able to offer these prices.

If you have any doubts regarding our quality please look at our testimonials and or order a sample first!

Yes Carrara Marble can be used in wet areas very successfully as long as it is fixed and sealed correctly.  We have a Marble Fixing Guide in the Tile section of this Info Hub.

This information has all come from our own experiences and those of the tilers that we have worked with for over 20 years. It gives you our best recommendations.

We have prepared a very detailed Marble Fixing Guide for our customers to give their tilers, please follow step by step.

See Marble Fixing Guide here.

As an e-commerce company we have eliminated many of the traditional overheads associated with showrooms.

This and importing ourselves directly from the factories allows us to purchase these products at a lower price and pass on these savings to you the consumer.

Our porcelain mosaics are from China where these days the Chinese use Italian machinery and kilns in their factories, this means that you get European quality at a much lower price!

Quality control is very strict as they are selling mosaics around the World and so the end product has to be made to a very high standard.

We choose to import only porcelain products rather than some of the cheaper ceramic products from Indonesia.

We deliver Australia wide on a daily basis Mon - Fri; either to your door or opt for the much cheaper option to collect from a freight Depot that is nearest to you.

Approximate delivery times.

NSW and ACT  2-3 days

VIC and QLD 3-4 days

SA 4-5 days

WA 8-12 days

NT 10-14 days

We charge you what the freight costs, we are not looking to make money on the freight.

The cost is calculated by a combination of the weight of your order with the suburb and postcode of your Shipping Address.  Usually at least three quotes have been received to set up the default in our system and we work with the best price that we can get.

To work out the cost of freight; add the items to the cart and then go to view cart and click on estimate freight just under the sub-total the site will then calculate it for you calculate it for you.

Occasionally there may be a postcode outside the default zone and so it will then ask you to contact us for a freight quote.

Yes you can collect from our Sydney warehouse by prior arrangement. We do require 48 hours’ notice to get your order ready for collection.

Collection times are from 10am - 3pm Monday to Thursday.

Collection outside these hours can be done with prior arrangement.

We are not open on weekends.

If it is a sample order we usually send them out with Australia Post.

All general orders are sent with freight companies.  If it is a small order we will send it as cartons.  Otherwise our deliveries are packed on skids (mini pallets).  In this case they need to be tail lift unloaded at your address and will be delivered to the nearest hard standing that the driver can get the skid to, as close to your property as they can.  Please understand that delivery trucks are often large and heavy, they most definitely don't want to damage your drive.

If your property is suitable for you to be able to give us an ATL (authority to leave) then that is always the best way.  Unless there is always someone at your property to receive the delivery, and we are never able to be completely sure of day or time for delivery, the drivers will take the delivery away and then charge again for a re-delivery.  Wherever possible an ATL is definitely the best way.

Samples with Australia post can be anything from 2 to 7 days depending on where you are.  We dispatch from Sydney.

For freight on full orders we generally ask you to allow 2-3 days for NSW, QLD and VIC.  3-4 days for SA and 7 days for Perth and Tasmania.

It can often be less than this but we prefer to under promise and over deliver!

Firstly and thankfully we suffer very few breakages in transit.  We work very hard to pack our tiles for delivery.

All damages or irregularities must be notified within 7 days of the delivery. This is to enable us to replace any damaged tiles with the same batch as the tiles from your order.

Please photograph any damage to the packaging and then any damage inside if that is the case.

We also need to know the exact amount missing or damaged and free replacements will be sent and swapped over on the next available delivery.

Due to the nature of the goods it will be deemed acceptable if there are 1 or 2 broken tiles and would recommend that you use them where cuts are necessary.

If on first inspection you notice that there are damages please indicate this on the driver’s paperwork.

SHIPPING

All freight is charged at cost, we do not look to make money on freight, we simply look to charge you what it will cost us to get the goods to you.
